Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a master's degree in English literature. Mitchell started her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. She was then a reporter for the CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located which was based in Washington DC. In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent by NBC News two year later. Beginning in 1981 she began covering the White House. In 1988 she was named chief congressional reporter. She was appointed chief White House correspondent by NBC News, in 1992. Mitchell appeared as both an anchor and a panelist on the TV news program Meet the Press. Mitchell joined the panel in 1988's presidential debates that pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in The John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA), honored Mitchell for her contribution in the defense of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell reported on for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988, between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell has reported on a variety of notable reports over time, including the tax reforms, budget reforms, and the Iran Contra saga. She travelled frequently with Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev to world summits.
