Allison Cara Tolman has been an actor for more than twenty years. Most famously, she is Molly Solverson from the FX TV series Fargo in its first season. Tolman has won nominations for Emmys & Golden Globes. Tolman is the youngest of three siblings. She also has two brothers older than her. In the early months of her life, her family moved to England. They stayed there until she was four years old. She spent the next five years in Oklahoma and West Texas, before moving to Sugar Land, Texas. When she was 10-years-old, Fort Bend Community Theatre began offering acting lessons. Clements High School was her high school. She completed her studies in the year 2000. Baylor University granted her a Master of Fine Arts with an emphasis on theatrical performance. Following college, she relocated to Dallas in the United States, where she was one of the founding participants of Second Thought Theatre. After 2009, Tolman relocated to Chicago, Illinois, to study performance in The Second City Training Center. Tolman started her acting career in 2014. She starred on the FX crime comedy Fargo's first season. Fargo is a film that stars veterans like Billy Bob Thornton Martin Freeman Bob Odenkirk. The movie was influenced by the Coen brothers' film of exactly the same title. Tolman's performance in the role of Minnesota police officer Molly Solverson was praised by Vanity Fair, who wrote: "She calmly and confidently stole the whole production". Tolman has also appeared in an appearance on the Mindy Show as Abby Berman a romance writer. In 2015, her supporting part was played by Michael Dougherty in the film, horror-film Krampus. Tolman has a breakout performance in Fargo, declined supporting roles as wives, mothers, and the best friends to pursue the role she thought was unique. Tolman's 2017 role in ABC Downward Dog was based on the Animal Media Group Web Series. After one season the show was cancelled. Tolman appeared in ABC's Emergence drama which premiered on 24 September 2019 but was canceled by ABC within a year, on 21 May 2020, despite Tolman tweeting she thought the ratings were "pretty acceptable". She guest starred on NBC's Good Girls. She was Alma Filcott during the second season of Why Women Kill.
